What is a Kiwiberry?

That was our question when we happened across an article in Market Bulletin about research that has been ongoing at the University of New Hampshire Experiment Station.

Kiwiberries are high in vitamins C, E, K, folate, carotenoids, potassium, fiber, and phytochemicals. Studies suggest that kiwi may increase HDL, or “good” cholesterol, and decrease triglyceride levels as well as inhibit the formation of blood clots and hypertension. A great potential to be a superfood!

Carl visited the experiment station last fall to gather more information, and just two weeks ago, we received our kiwiberry plants from UNH to start our orchard.

We are extremely excited to be on the forefront of bringing this highly valued crop to market in the Upper Valley. Stay tuned for updates as we move along with our experiment here in Lebanon.
